Creating the Perfect Laundry Room
Creating the perfect laundry room can be a handful. It can also prove to be fulfilling. The goal is to keep style without sacrificing convenience. Don’t worry, it is easier than it sounds. Just go through the basic checklist of appliances, color schemes, cabinets, and shelves. Once you are done, anybody that comes into your laundry room will have their jaw drop to the floor. Just be sure not to show off too much. Let’s get started.
Washer and Dryer
Typically, these are the center pieces of any laundry room. The washer and dryer should mainly follow a stainless-steel type design. This really helps blend them in with any color you choose. You can also have them match the primary color of your color scheme. Keep in mind it is 2017. Technology is intertwined with everything. This will help you find a washer and dryer that can be automated and update you with notifications. It doesn’t matter if you stack them or put them side by side, either. This just depends on preference.

Gone are the days of forgetting your clothes in the washer. Just be sure to explain the confusion to anyone that comes into your laundry room.
Cabinets or Racks
This is a tough question. Either option is amazing. Cabinets look very appealing and offer a strong design, but stainless-steel racks are easier to grab necessities. You can also have both if you really want to. Choosing can prove to be fun when looking at examples of cabinets or racks. The cabinets should all be level with each other and preferably be above the washer and dryer. Place some racks to the side to get that added convenience. This way you can easily grab the detergent and put it back without swinging open the cabinets every time.
Laundry Sink
Sinks are very convenient and look very nice in a laundry room. The sink should be large enough so you can have room to hand wash your clothes or place a bucket in to fill up with water. This will help you anytime you find something way to messy to wash in a regular kitchen sink. For example, if the kids decide to roll around in some mud. Just plop the clothes in the sink, wash off the mud, and throw it into the washer right next to you.
Color Schemes
Finding a color scheme is based on your personal preference. Typically, light colors go well in a laundry room. If you were to choose a bolder color, that will look great too, especially if the washer and dryer match. The cabinets should be a lighter color in any scenario though. You can even consider a backsplash that could go behind the washer and dryer. This always adds a nice feel to a laundry room. Look at your floors too. The floors should be a light tile. A few rugs that match the color scheme should be placed in a few spots. This will help if there are ever soaking wet clothes. Plus, it is hard to stain tile.
